David Adams Richards – on true faith, and Christ

“Why do some say the church does not need Christ? Because he is, after all, an embarrassment. His miracles are best if they had not happened, and our hope for the afterlife has to be tempered by all the valuable science we have learned (or believe we have learned).

“That’s the plain and simple of it, which, in the realm of true faith, has no meaning. But true faith has no dog in the fight—for it cannot explain itself and will not excuse itself.”

God Is, pg, 154.
